DA wants Zuma to repay R15m legal bill

The DA says the more than R15m of public funds that former president Jacob Zuma spent on his "legal shenanigans" should be recovered from him. It has also asked President Cyril Ramaphosa for more information on the money owed, including if there was an obligation for the Presidency, the state or the Treasury to continue paying Zuma's legal fees.
DA leader Mmusi Maimane said the state attorney had confirmed to the party that R15 300 250 of public funds were spent on Zuma and his fight against corruption, fraud and racketeering charges.
"From the outset, Jacob Zuma’s actions made it clear that he would avoid his day in court at all costs - and he would do so with the financial backing of government," Maimane said.
"Zuma abused legal process, employing every delay tactic possible to drag this matter out and to avoid his day in court. So much so, that Judge President Dunstan Mlambo deemed Zuma a 'reckless and unreasonable litigant' in a judgment handed down last year." Maimane said it appeared that the more than R15m in legal fees were spent irregularly and unlawfully and that the party would write to Ramaphosa for answers. "It appears that this R15.3m in legal fees was spent irregularly and unlawfully, as the case relates Jacob Zuma in his personal capacity, for crimes he allegedly committed before he was president."
DA wrote a letter to Ramaphosa on Wednesday, Maimane asked on what basis his office claimed that the payments made by the Presidency, in respect of Zuma’s personal legal fees, were in line with legislation. Maimane also raised questions about Zuma using the services of private lawyer Michael Hulley, the apparent agreement to continue paying for Zuma's legal fees, and whether Zuma would be required to repay the amount if convicted. Ramaphosa was given until March 22 to reply in the letter that has been wrote. Maimane said; Upon receipt of his information, we will consider approaching the High Court for a declarator, asking that the payment of these monies in respect of Zuma’s personal cost be declared unlawful.
We intend to seek an order to compel the Presidency to recover the R15.3m of irregular and unlawful spending for Jacob Zuma’s benefit. Maimane said he wanted to assure South Africans that the money would be retrieved. and Zuma would "eventually have his day in court" to answer the charges relating to fraud, corruption, money-laundering and racketeering
I support DA on this matter that the former President Jacob Zuma must pay back R15m the legal bills that has been payed by the state. The Former President should have paid his personal legal bills him self not by the state funds. It was a great idea to write letter to the current President  and ask as if it was the obligation of the Presidency to continue paying the Zuma personal legal bills. Zuma must pay back the state funds and go to court and answer the chargers of corruption and fraud etc.

'I won't do it. That thing is dead' – Malema on return to ANC

In this article Julius Malema has made it clear that he will not be returning to the ANC. SABC news anchor Leanne Manas recently tweeted that ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa and his deputy David Mabuza want the EFF leader to join the ANC again.

This comes after Deputy President David "DD" Mabuza told reporters at an ANC registration drive in Mamelodi, Tshwane, that he would do his best to bring the EFF's commander-in-chief back into the governing party, as reported by News24. Mabuza said ANC has lost in comrade Julius. The ANC would be better off with him inside the fold, so I am going to do my best to request him to reconsider coming back home.

The former ANC Youth League President, however, tweeted on Monday morning that he would never return to the ANC. I won’t do it, that thing is dead," he tweeted in response to the Leanne Manas tweet. Worse they now have two presidents, one for ANC of Natal called Zupta and Ramapostponer for the rest and now I must go and join the confusion, never."

In an interview with eNCA in 2016, the EFF leader gave greater insight into what he hopes will happen following the 2019 elections – a merger between the EFF and the ANC. In my imagination, the ANC will go below 50%, while the EFF will increase to 10%, so that "the ANC needs the EFF, the DA needs the EFF", he said in the interview. He added that he would offer the ANC a merger in this case. There’s no EFF joining the ANC… we’ll rather talk about the establishment of a new party completely and then we all leave our history there. This is the beginning of a new era."

I support the decison that has been taken by the EFF leader by not rejoing the ANC again because that can promote the corruption and the EFF is the active party that is giving the pressure to the ruling party. David Mabuza and Cyril Ramaphosa idea of convincing Julius Malema to come back home was not a good idea because Malema can not return back to the ANC. EFF leader says it can only merge with ANC not returning back .

Maimane calls on youth to register

This article discussess that DA leader Mmusi Maimane has encouraged young people to register to vote in Johnnesburg today. Maimane visited an IEC voting station at the Sedi Laka Primary School in Kaalfontein, accompanying two young people to register to vote.
He told journalists that Kaalfontein was one of the areas the DA was working hard to ensure it delivered services. He said he came here today because the most under-registered people are young people. We encourage them to register to vote because it is about their future.  Gauteng was leading the country when it came to living out the dream of a rainbow nation said Maimane.
Maimane said in restaurants, workplaces, shopping malls, places of worship – wherever you look you see the dream of ’94, a non-racial South Africa, integrated South Africa. But, most important of all, the people of this province are leading our nation in voting for a better government and brighter future for themselves, he said.
Maimane said Gauteng had showed that change only comes at the ballot box. In the last general election in 2014, the ANC held onto power in this province by the skin of their teeth. They were 3% away from losing Gauteng,” he said. Maimane pointed out that this was followed by the 2016 local government elections, which saw new governments elected in Johannesburg and Tshwane. He added that come the 2019 elections, young people must ensure that they pick a government that ends poverty.
Not missing an opportunity to take a swipe at the ANC, Maimane said that whilst the DA was trying to end poverty, some parties are introducing VAT, "wanting to take away just the ability for people to live," he said. We ask you to lend us your vote for five years, and if you feel we have failed you, vote us out. That is democracy Maimane said.
In my opinion I support the DA leader Maimane that the young people must register to vote for 2019 for the party that will change this country and also alleviate poverty. Increase of VAT will affect the South African people negatively as they will pay high prices. People must vote for the government that they think it is better and will deliver services. For those who care about their future they must go register to vote for organisation that will create employment and alleviate poverty.

EFF calls on Africa to' join in the wave of economic freedom of our lifetime'

In this article the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has called on Africa to join in the wave of economic freedom, saying that the land and mineral resources on the African continent should be redirected to benefit African people and their economies.
The EFF said this in a statement on Tuesday while congratulating the west African country of Ghana its 61st anniversary of independence. The EFF said we call on the land and mineral resources of the continent to be redirected to benefit African people and their economies. We call on financial institutions like banks to be nationalised and forced to invest in the economic activities of native peoples of the continent.
This came just a few days after its leader Julius Malema encouraged South Africans to study farming saying that the land is coming.
We are not going to disrupt farming. We are going to inherit farming and continue to farm. We want agricultural colleges open. Because the land is coming and it is going to need educated farmers," he said as his supporters cheered at the Standard Bank arena in Johannesburg where the party launched its voter registration campaign on Sunday.
Malema said when laws were passed and land was taken under apartheid, investors never left the country. Now we say let's take from white people and not give to blacks [alone] but to both black and white, they say people are going to leave the country - because black people don't deserve the land. Black people don't deserve to own property. Any ownership of property by black people is a threat to whitenes  said Malema.
The EFF said that the majority of the people in Africa remained in underdevelopment, poverty, and hunger. These challenges must be confronted through an uncompromising programme of economic freedom in our lifetime to complete the genuine decolonisation that was initiated by Ghanaians 61 years ago," said the EFF.
As we know that in developing countries the most thing that contributes to the GDP is natural resources such as minerals and also agriculture like in South Africa. By giving back the land to the blacks can alleviate poverty and it can creates job opportunities and contribute to the economy of the country. I support the statement that has been said by the EFF leader to encourage people to go to agriculture schools so that they will be taught how to utilise the land . Farming is the most thing that contributes to the economy of the country as many people will get jobs and also the exports will increase and also attract foreign investors and current investors.

Gigaba an unpatriotic pathological liar -EFF

In this article  the EFF has called Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba an "unpatriotic pathological liar" after he insisted on Tuesday the Gupta family were not South African citizens.During a press conference, Gigaba said the controversial Gupta brothers were not South African citizens because they refused to renounce their Indian citizenship, despite contrary evidence.Entering the ID number of Atul Gupta’s ID document which was contained in the #GuptaLeaks, the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) website confirms he was registered to vote at Saxonwold Primary School.
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi EFF spokeperson said Gigaba had lied to a court of law and to the country after he told the Parliament Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs that he had initially granted Atul Gupta citizenship, only to backtrack later.Ndlozi said Gigaba contradicted himself by saying they refused to give up their Indian citizenship, yet having admitted in the past they had been granted citizenship. Gigaba has also argued that he had indeed granted them citizenship upon their appeal. However, Atul and Ajay Gupta did not take the citizenship because they refused to denounce their Indian citizenship, thus they remain permanent residents.
Yet, we know for sure that Atul Gupta and Rajesh Gupta are South African ID holders, registered to vote in Ward 78, of Johannesburg, Saxonwold Primary School voting station. We also know that they hold South African passports; this is evidence that they are South African.Independent Electoral Commission vice-chairperson Terry Tselane told News24 only South African citizens would be able to register. Any South African citizen in possession of an SA ID document may apply to register to vote. All the people who are registered are South African," he said.
Also, what is important is we register in person. You come in person to the voting station to register .Ndlozi said the EFF would write to Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane to investigate the status of the Guptas. The EFF has been telling the whole country that we are dealing with an unpatriotic pathological liar who is not deserving of public office. We reiterate our call on President [Cyril] Ramaphosa to remove Gigaba from cabinet," he said.
The DA’s Haniff Hoosen, Shadow Minister of Home Affairs, said Atul Gupta, Arti Gupta, Shivani Gupta, and Rajesh Gupta are all registered voters. The DA has already laid a formal complaint against the Public Protector requesting that she investigate Gigaba for lying under oath during court proceedings and violating the Constitution during his previous tenure as Minister of Home Affairs," he said.
The way I see Gigaba is guilty by giving the citizenship to the people who dont't belong to our nation and this matter must be taken into consideration because this is crime .

We are cutting the throat of whiteness' -Malema on plans to remove Trollip

Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema has explained that his party is specifically aiming to remove Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Athol Trollip because he is white.

We have taken a decision that we are going to remove the mayor of Port Elizabeth, he told a crowd gathered for the launch of the party’s election registration campaign at the Standard Bank arena in Johannesburg on Sunday.
Because the mayor of DA in PE is a white man. So, these people, when you want to hit them hard – go after a white man. They feel a terrible pain, because you have touched a white man.
Trollip will not be a mayor after the 6th of April, if they give us that date.

He slammed comments that the EFF would be bringing the ANC back to lead the metro, saying that in the local elections, the people did not choose an outright majority for any party in metros like Mandela Bay, Tshwane, Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni.
No one can claim authority and legitimacy and say it their leadership is based on the people of these cities. The people rejected us. They said: 'not one of these parties is worth [more]… than 50%'. So, no one is entitled to any mayorship in these metros."
On Saturday DA leader Mmusi Maimane slammed the EFF for its intention to table a motion of no confidence Trollip.
You may have heard of a small party that is going around saying that they are going to vote us out of government in Nelson Mandela Bay metro," said Maimane at the Mpumalanga provincial Congress in Secunda.
Maimane said it is madness. It is insane. But people must ask them what they are thinking. And they must explain to the voters and the residents of Nelson Mandela Bay why they are handing the city back to the corrupt ANC.

Earlier in the week, Malema said he was determined to "punish" the party in Nelson Mandela Bay for rejecting its motion to allow a constitutional review on land expropriation without compensation.
We need to take that away from them, to teach them a lesson to make them appreciate that we mean business when it comes to land said Malema.
His comments came after the party's motion for the amendment of the Constitution to allow expropriation of land without compensation received overwhelming support.
The EFF motion, with an ANC amendment, was supported by the majority of MPs on Tuesday and paves the way for a review of the Constitution on land expropriation.
DA said it would report Malema to the Equality Court for what it deemed to be hate speech and incitement of violence.
.

I support the statement of Julius Malema leader of Economic Freedom Fighters to remove Trollip mayor in Nelson Mandela bay and memeber of DA. I also agree with him when he says the Nelson Mandela bay must be led back to ANC.
If you may see in Cape Town the are places for white and also for blacks which means Racism is still existing. DA is using Maimane as front line to attract people to join the organisation after they have won the elections they put white  in power.

Unemployed women Should be trained to produce and supply government-issued sanitary Pads

In this article the African National Congress Women"s League said the Capacity building programmes for unemployed women on how to produce sanitary pads and run a business to supply government-issued sanitary pads should be offered to primary and high schools pupils in all nine provinces. Government can later source the sanitary towels from women-owned businesses. There are many things that government is providing but the biggest suppliers of those items remain male-owned businesses espacially whites males this include Free Condoms and Free Stationery.
The ANCWL’s comments come after Minister of Women in the Presidency Bathabile Dlamini last week reportedly told Parliament's Multiparty Women's Caucus that pupils will soon receive free pads. Government had in the past committed to supply free sanitary towels to girl scholars, but there had been no full implementation in some provinces. The ANCWL calls for the ANC-led government to put timelines to implement this decision which will bring much needed relief to many girl learners who are from poor and working class families.
The majority of the girl learners who cannot afford sanitary towels resort to unhygienic methods of using clothes rags and newspapers during their menstruation and that poses health risks to them has been shown by various reports.
ANC led government had provided free condoms, it is our firm view that sanitary towels must also be freely available particularly for girl learners from poor and working class families.  Menstruation is not a choice but natural occurrence. The women’s league would mobilise its members, supporters and society in general to embark on a campaign for Treasury to add sanitary towels into the list of items zero-rated on value-added tax Matuba said.
I hope it is the good idea to provide free pads because many girls in South Africa miss 3 to 5 days of school each month because they cannot afford sanitary pads. For many families; basic survival is priority and there simply isn't enough money in the budget to buy pads every month. Women's must be trained so that the will be female-owned sanitary towels company that will produce affordable sanitary pads.
This will enable women to break the cycle of  poverty, take charge of their futures and invest in good business model that could break the minimum wage barrier and promoting the women economic empowerment.
